Why I built Finterview

3 months ago I moved from Zepto to Starbucks India as General Manager – Finance.

Here's the part nobody tells you about switching roles after 8+ years in finance: the fear doesn't get smaller with experience. If anything, it gets worse — because now there's more to lose, and more people expecting you to already have the answers.

Every time I've prepped for a big interview before this — at Zepto, at Glance — it was the same routine. Generic question banks that had nothing to do with the actual role. Rehearsing answers alone in front of a mirror, with no real sense if I sounded confident or just... hedgy. Guessing what the interviewer would even ask. I got through it, but I suffered a lot to build the confidence I needed to walk in and own the room.

So this time, I didn't want to do it that way again. Over the last few months, I ended up building the tool I wished I'd had — Finterview.

It's simple: give it your resume and the JD (or even just the interviewer's background), and it gives you an honest fit report, predicts the questions that person is actually likely to ask, lets you practice answering out loud on webcam with direct AI feedback on your structure and confidence — not a generic score — and then tests the actual finance skills the role needs, like Excel modeling and SAP T-codes.

I used it to prep for my Starbucks interviews. And for the first time, I walked in knowing what to expect instead of hoping I'd guessed right.

It started as a weekend project. I'm now opening it up because I think finance folks deserve better prep than "here are 50 common questions, good luck."
