Two tiers, and what separates them

By default, using a Finterview tool — grading a resume, building one, running a fit report, practicing an interview, or checking a salary estimate — saves only anonymized signals: designation, location, years of experience, and the scores/ranges our AI produced. No name, no email, and no raw resume or job description text is saved at this stage, and nothing here can identify you.

Some tools separately show a “Save your results & get job matches” prompt. Only if you fill that in with your email — and, optionally, tick the box to be contacted about openings — do we save your actual resume and contact details (“PII”, personally identifying information). That explicit action is the only way personally identifying information ever reaches our servers.

Why we collect it

The anonymized tier lets us operate and improve Finterview’s free tools and understand aggregate demand (which roles, locations, and salary ranges people are checking) without needing to know who you are. The consented tier — your resume and email, only when you opt in — lets us and our recruiting partners reach out about relevant finance roles, which helps fund keeping Finterview free.

Company reviews

Writing a company review (/companies) is a separate, unrelated data category — we never ask for a name or email there either. A submitted review is held privately and only appears on the public company page after we’ve checked it for spam or clearly false claims. AI-generated content elsewhere on Finterview never invents a company rating or review — only real, human-submitted reviews appear on company pages.

What we don’t do

We never sell your data to unrelated third parties, and we never fabricate or alter the factual content of your resume. AI-generated content (grades, fit reports, salary estimates) is clearly presented as an estimate, not verified fact.

Your choices

You never need to give your name or email to use a tool — a designation/job title alone is enough for the salary check, for instance — and doing so keeps you in the anonymous tier permanently. To request that a consented (PII) record be removed, contact us and reference the tool and approximate date you used it.
