Deputy General Manager - Finance

The role will be responsible for driving lease controllership, transaction advisory, financial modelling, merger & acquisition support, and strategic decision support for Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Limited. The incumbent will partner with business leaders to evaluate investments, optimize lease portfolios, assess growth opportunities, and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead financial oversight of the Company's lease portfolio in compliance with Ind AS 116 and other applicable accounting standards.
- Evaluate lease structures, renewals, renegotiations, and new lease opportunities from a financial and commercial perspective.
- Develop financial models to assess lease viability, profitability, and long-term value creation.
- Monitor lease-related risks, commitments, liabilities, and accounting impacts.
- Identify cost optimization opportunities and drive initiatives to improve lease portfolio returns.
- Support identification, evaluation, and execution of acquisition, partnership, joint venture, and strategic investment opportunities.
- Conduct financial due diligence and valuation analysis of target businesses and assets.
- Assess transaction structures and recommend optimal commercial and financial arrangements.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including investment bankers, consultants, legal advisors, auditors, and business teams.
- Prepare investment memoranda and presentations for senior leadership and Board review.
- Build and maintain robust financial models for investment decisions, capital allocation, greenfield projects, resort expansion, and strategic initiatives.
- Perform scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis, and return-on-investment assessments.
- Provide actionable insights to leadership through data-driven analysis.
- Support annual budgeting, business planning, and forecasting related to strategic projects.
- Review term sheets, lease agreements, management contracts, concession agreements, RFPs, and commercial proposals.
- Identify key financial, commercial, and contractual risks.
- Recommend risk mitigation strategies and negotiate financially beneficial terms.
- Ensure compliance with internal governance and approval frameworks.
- Provide expert guidance on Ind AS 116, Ind AS 109, and related financial reporting requirements.
- Partner with accounting and audit teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and disclosures.
- Strengthen controls, governance processes, and compliance mechanisms related to leasing and strategic transactions.
- Support statutory, internal, and management audits.
- Collaborate closely with Finance, Business Development, Legal, Projects, Procurement, and Operations teams.
- Manage relationships with landlords, consultants, auditors, valuers, bankers, and regulatory authorities.
- Present recommendations and business cases to senior management and leadership forums.
Requirements
- CA Qualified or MBA in Finance from renowned institute
- 10-15 years of relevant experience in Corporate Finance, Lease Controllership, M&A, Financial Planning & Analysis, Transaction Advisory, or Investment Banking
- Experience in hospitality, real estate, infrastructure, retail, or asset-intensive businesses will be an advantage
- Strong understanding of lease accounting (Ind AS 116), financial modelling, valuation techniques, and M&A transactions
